Saturday, 31 July 2004 The 3 Logic Laws that Make Robots Safe: Law I: A robot may not harm a human or, by inaction, allow a human being to come to harm Law II: A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the first law Law III: A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the first or second law The three precept-like laws above, as proposed by the late Issac Asimov, form the basis of robotic morality in the science-fiction universe. Though seemingly flawlessly in forming a circle of protection, they are not in truth easily understood by machines. For instance, to perfectly obey Law I, robots have to first understand the full meaning of "harm" beyond the physical domain. This is tricky because harm caused by humans is often more mental than physical. The human mind is so complex that it can plan elaborate schemes to harm without direct physical touch. As the other two laws build upon the first, it seems near impossible for robots to understand and uphold complete human morality. Harm, as explained by the Buddha, is caused by the three roots of evil - greed, hatred and ignorance - mindstates robots cannot experience or read at all. Likewise, robots cannot understand the opposites of the roots of evil - generosity, loving-kindness (and compassion) and wisdom. 0 comments ![]() ![]() dreamed of racing on 11:23 pm <-------------------------------------------------------> Thursday, 29 July 2004 recently, i went to do up my I.C.E.. (In-Car Entertainment) the whole project cost me around 1.5k.. i could only pay half of it.. so i left out the base tube, front speakers and head unit for next month.. my car is giving me problem again.. this time the right rear suspension worn out, and the sound produced by the faulty suspension really piss me off.. disturbing the music from my new Rainbow speakers.. early this month, i came across a website http://www.wholivesnearyou.com its a website where it able to group all the peoples living in a neighbourhood.. through the site, i know a girl.. we hang out a few times.. she's quite pleasant.. but i want to know her more first before i proceed to anything.. ;p 0 comments ![]() ![]() dreamed of racing on 8:58 pm <-------------------------------------------------------> Wednesday, 14 July 2004 alrite.. i can't stop hearing lotsa are decent, all good guys are already married, extinct la.. bla.. lolz.. but i can still count a number of guy frens who are really good guys.. (ya, of cos im one of them.. ^^) then do i realise that its you girls that choose to hangout with the bad guys! yes, its YOU! why? i thought you would never ask.. ;) the ans is as simple as you may think.. becos bad guys are more attractive! they are more confident.. more daring.. and most impt, they are more of a challenge and definitely more interesting then most boring guys out there.. they are juz more fun to be around with.. if not, you would not have gone out with him and realised that he is a bad guy huh.. haha.. and if you frequent pubs / night clubs, how decent you want the guys you meet to be? i bet you'll find some really nice guys in the library.. and again, becos they are the bad guys.. they approach girls all the times! yes, even if they are attached.. so, YOU are often being approached by the "nice" bad guys without you even realised it.. the real decent one are more reserved.. they're more shy and dont approach girls as often.. and when they do have gf, they seldom chat up with you.. so how to prevent being cheated by a bad guy? very simple la.. don't believe in every word he said lo.. another word, don't fall for his sweet talk.. know him well first.. yes the temptation is there but its really silly to get engage with a guy within days or even weeks.. you are juz playing with your luck.. i'd see so many of them.. its a common sense thingy.. what make you think he's a nice decent guy in juz a few days? so stop being emotional.. your sixth sense is not magic.. dont gamble.. well girls, good hanging around.. but as i said, most of them could make you fall asleep.. thus you are NOT attracted to them.. so, there's really no one to blame.. its good guys with the "noti guy attractive characteristics" that's rare.. (im one of them again =p) its the naughty kinda character that attract you.. so, its alrite to hangout with interesting guys.. juz make sure you get to know them well enough first.. so girls, stop saying that all guys are jerks juz becos you're not interacting with the decent ones.. it take both hands to clap.. good luck! ;) 0 comments ![]() ![]() dreamed of racing on 11:05 pm <-------------------------------------------------------> Monday, 5 July 2004 Who Are You? When I say, "This is your mind and body", it means you are not your mind or body; it means you are someone else - who owns your mind and body. Similarly, you are not your character or your things. Who are you then? Can you point your true self out? Or is there no self to begin with? 0 comments ![]() ![]() dreamed of racing on 10:49 am <-------------------------------------------------------> Friday, 2 July 2004 Joke of the month Grandma and Grandpa... Grandma and Grandpa were sitting in their porch rockers watching the beautiful sunset and reminiscing about "the good old days". Grandma turned to Grandpa and said, "Honey, do you remember when we first started dating and you used to just casually reach over and take my hand?" Grandpa looked over at her, smiled and obligingly took her aged hand in his. With a wry little smile, Grandma pressed a little farther, "Honey, do you remember how after we were engaged, you'd sometimes lean over and suddenly kiss me on the cheek?" Grandpa leaned slowly toward Grandma and gave her a lingering kiss on her wrinkled cheek. Growing bolder still, Grandma said, "Honey, do you remember how, after we were first married, you'd kind of nibble on my ear?" Grandpa slowly got up from his rocker and headed into the house. Alarmed, Grandma said, "Honey, where are you going?" Grandpa replied, "To get my teeth la!" 0 comments ![]() ![]() dreamed of racing on 10:52 am <-------------------------------------------------------> Thursday, 1 July 2004 a girl asked a guy if he thought she was pretty.. he said.. no.. she asked him if he would want to be with her forever.. and he said no.. she then asked him if she were to leave would he cry? and once again he replied with a no.. I wouldn't expect you to understand that, or even believe it, but trust me; there are just some loves that don't go away. And maybe that makes them crazy, but we should all be lucky enough to end up with someone who has a little bit of that craziness. Someone who never lets go.
