Darling in the morning
I prepare for set your table

You are my super women oh~~
But i am only human en~~
Oh baby~~

Try to make it all yes for me

You are my super women
But i am only human
Oh baby~~

You are my super women
But i am only human
You are my super women
But i am only human
You are my super women
But i am only human

自小失去母亲的他,记得您把棉袄为他亲手缝,一针一线,爱在其中;
记得您恳切的叮咛――人生路长,谦虚上进才能成功;

而您却永远倒在了雪中?多希望这只是个恶梦,就算要我在梦魇中无数次惊醒;

i would not go for it even if one day, man could be pregnant..
its kind of against the nature.. and i always feel that
we should'nt do things against nature..

Why Is There Anything At All?

It is a primitive form of thought
that things either exist or do not exist. - Sir Arthur Eddington

"Why is there any 'thing' at all?" This seems to be the mother of all basic existential questions. But this question prompts another question - "Why is there this question at all?" This in turn begs the question - "Why do I not know?" The answer is "I do not know why (I do not know)", or "I do not know - because of my fundamental ignorance." At this point, this might simply seem to be evasion of the first question. But if we reflect carefully, we should always ask why we ask certain questions in the first place - as questions can be asked wrongly or without much true meaning.

To say "it is" is to grasp for permanence.
To say "it is not" is to adopt the view of nihilism.
Therefore a wise person does not say "exists" or "does not exist."
- Siddhi Nagarjuna

But I digress. Now back to the original question. Buddhism teaches us that "things" do not exist in the way we suppose them to - as "solid" unchanging entities. For instance, the physical elements of nature on the microscopic level are always morphing into each other, breaking up or becoming more complex. There is no enduring immutable element even in the elements themselves. In terms of mental phenomena, the Buddha discovered through detailed meditative observation, that all of its elements - mental forms, feelings, perceptions, intentions and consciousness are likewise fluxing all the time.

Since every element morphs chemically,
always changing from itself to another,
what is truly elemental, other than change? -stonepeace

So, to reiterate, "things" indeed do not exist the way we habitually think they do. This does not only apply to minute psycho-physical details, but also to more macro aspects of observable nature. For instance, there is actually no such thing as a waterfall - there is only "water falling!" Because every "thing" is constantly changing and thus without any fixed self-nature, "things" actually "exist" yet "do not exist" at the same time. There is no thinker but only the thinking. There are only processes. This applies to our illusion of "self" too. All is flow.

Since there is only constant "changing",
how can there be a constant "changer"? -stonepeace

So it seems, the first question was indeed asked wrongly, in having assumed the existence of "things" existing as unchanging forms. So the question should perhaps be now rephrased thus - "Why is there constant change?" Unfortunately, as I'm unenlightened on this metaphysical question, the answer is still "I do not know why." However, what I do know is that, as exemplified by the Buddha's attainment of Enlightenment, we can all evolve spiritually to realise the answer. And this evolution is possible precisely because there is constant change! Spiritual cultivation is but another process of change among all other processes, but it is one which seeks to transform ignorance to omniscient wisdom.

There is no existence or non-existence of anything.
Things are neither solidly present nor totally absent. - stonepeace

Incidentally, the Buddha also taught that metaphysical and thus speculative questions, though seemingly intelligent, are not wise, in the sense that they are not relevant to the immediate task of simply becoming wiser through understanding our mind, which dispels ignorance, instead of ignorantly seeking the roots of our ignorance with our ignorance! The latter is moving in the wrong direction! It is likened to seeking light within the darkness of ignorance by walking deeper into darkness when one should simply walk towards the light of wisdom. We are probably too ignorant to understand the roots of our ignorance too - or the Buddha might had simply told us how it "arose". What matters is not how we got here (as ignorant), but what we can do now to become wise - through practising and perfecting the Noble Eightfold Path.

Sunday, 5 February 2006

i used to be a christian.. since young, my aunt brought me
and my brothers to church.. i didn't went to church every sunday..
and my aunt would often "strongly encourage me" to go..
well, i did feel compelled to go for church that time..
furthermore, my parent don't encourage us to go to church too..

many years later, when i was 16, i came in touch with buddhism..
i'd heard from wx, my secondary school friend then that buddhism
is not really a religion, but rather a life-time teaching..
you don't have to believe in anything or anyone including buddha..
simply read some buddhism books and you'll realised that buddha
teachings are logical facts that no one could ever deny them..
whatever can be explained in science, can be explained in buddhism..
all you have to do is to use your common sense, do some thinking
and constantly "awake" yourself to be a wiser person..
in society, we grow wisdom by attending schools and colleges..
just like when we were young, we listen to our teachers..
do you believe in your teachers then? yes, i guess most of us do..
however, buddha does not want us to just believe in him blindly..
he want us to analyse what he said and think whether it is right,
logical and natural.. you can also think in a scientific way..
cos buddha is a human like us, all of us can become buddha one day..
if you have learnt what your teacher taught you, one day,
you can also be a teacher yourself isn't it?
teachers used to be students, likewise, all buddhas used to
be a normal person just like you and me..

buddha don't teach maths or science.. he teaches about the way of life..
he teach us how to end sufferings and live happily and jump out of
the reincarnation cycle, also known as "六道轮回" in chinese..
we're just like an unpolished pearl.. buddha is like a polished
pearl.. whenever we gained wisdom, we polish ourselves a little..
buddha teaches us the truth.. but we could only realise these
truth ourselves.. till we understand the ultimate truth, then we'll
see that actually everything is but nothing.. we'll then not clinch
on to this world and repeat the reincarnation cycle..
i will just list out a few of the buddha teaching..

the 1st truth i wana list is "Nothing is permanent"
ya, its just such a simple fact.. look around you, everything
you see now will not be there forever.. to speedup your
thinking, the earth will reach its end one day..
when our sun is burning out millions of years later, it will devour
our earth.. the universe will end in a big bang or whatever..

the 2nd truth is "Everything is changing constantly"
even the lifeless keyboard we typing on it now has atoms and
molecules changing in it all the time.. while we can't see
the changes doesn't mean there is no changes..

the 3rd fact is "what you reep is what you sow"
or simply known as "Cause and effect"..
whatever action you do, there'll always be a effect..

the 4th fact is "Life is a suffering"
buddha doesn't mean that we are feeling pains every seconds,
but rather life is constantly surrounded with sufferings..
e.g stress, anger, sorrow, hatred, depression, illness, death etc..

the last fact, also a harsh one i gonna list is
"We are the one giving ourself all the pains and sufferings"
Yes! we are the one bringing all the sufferings to ourselves!
if we indulge in unhealthy food, we'll fall sick..
if things don't go our way, we become agitated, pessimistic and sad..
if we fail in something, we blame ourself or anyone.. if we blame ourself,
we make ourself sad, if we blame another person, we make that person
AND ourself sad.. cos blaming him won't make us success either..
if you hate john cos he steal your money, its the hatred in us that
torture us, not john.. if john steal money from his mom, do you think
his mom will hate him? no, cos her love for john overwrite her hatred..
she may feel sad and try to teach john to be honest..

there are many other hard solid truths that make me decided to
"switch school".. ;) afterall, its good to know more about other
religions first before you choose one, as not every religion
suit everyone..

i remembered when a journalist made fun of Edison for failing to
make the light bulb after 5000 tries, Edison merely said,
"I've found 5000 ways of how to not make a light bulb."
this is the attitude one should have..
