A man feared his wife wasn't hearing as well as she used to
and he thought she might need a hearing aid.
Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family Doctor to
discuss the problem. The Doctor told him there is a simple
informal test the husband could perform to give the Doctor a better
idea about her hearing loss.

Here's what you do," said the Doctor, "stand about 40 feet away from her,
and in a normal conversational speaking tone see if she hears you.
If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response."

That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner,
and he was in the den. He says to himself, "I'm about 40 feet away,
let's see what happens." Then in a normal tone he asks,
'Honey, what's for dinner?"

No response.
So the husband moves to closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from
his wife and repeats, "Honey, what's for dinner?"

Still no response.
Next he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from
his wife and asks, Honey what's for dinner?"

Again he gets no response so,

He walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away. "Honey, what's for dinner?"

Again there is no response.

So he walks right up behind her. "Honey, what's for dinner?"

"James, for the FIFTH time I've said, CHICKEN!"

Moral of the story:
The problem may not lie in others but us..!

come across a christian website that criticise about buddhism..
the christian, self-claimed to be an ex-buddhist said alot of
things that are incorrect about buddhism.. if one is not familiar with
a teaching in a certain school, how could one even criticise?
is this a new way of introducing people to christianity? =p
i know christians are "famous" for bringing people to Jesus..
i'm not against it.. i'm actually glad that they have the kind intention
to save you.. but shouldn't we give people a choice in choosing a
religion too? afterall, religion affect the person entire life..
and i know christianity and buddhism have too much differences..
buddhism don't bring people into buddhism.. as i mentioned in my past posting,
buddhism as similiar as a teaching.. you enrol yourself into a school,
the principal won't ask you to enrol into his school.. if the school
don't suit you, you could always transfer to another school..
come on people, choose a religion which you think is correct and suit you..
no point enrolling youself to a school where you have no interest in any
of the subjects..

sold my motorola v3, waiting to buy the sony ericsson w800i..
the aftermarket value for motorla phone is low as it does not
have much functions compare to other brands.. i know about it,
but i just like the design of v3.. anyway, now i gona get the w800i
which is pack with all kind of functions.. photo/video shooting
with 2 mega pixel resolution, blue tooth, infrared, wap, gprs, 3D games,
memory stick duo pro, fm receiver, music dj, mp3 player etc..
its a walkman phone with mega bass function.. and one of the
function i like and unique to SE walkman phone is the music mode..
in music mode, the radio transmitters and receivers are inactivated,
which makes it possible to use the phone to listen mp3 in aeroplanes,
hospitals etc.. with 34MB of internal memory, it is priced around
$650 without contract..

Joke of The Month

Two women are new arrivals at the pearly gates and are comparing storie
on how they died:

1st woman: "I froze to death."
2nd woman: "How horrible."
1st woman: "It wasn't so bad. After I quit shaking from the cold,
I began to get warm and sleepy, and finally died a peaceful death.
What about you?"
2nd woman: "I died of a massive heart attack. I suspected that my husband
was cheating, so I came home early to catch him in the act.
But instead, I found him all by himself in the den watching TV.
1st woman: "So what happened?"
2nd woman: "I was so sure there was another woman there somewhere that
I started running all over the house looking. I ran up into the attic
and searched, and down into the basement. Then I went through every closet
and checked under all the beds. I kept this up until I had looked everywhere,
and finally I became so exhausted that I just kneeled over with a
heart attack and died."
1st woman: "Too bad you didn't look in the freezer -- we'd both still be alive."

Here is a wonderful Zen story to share...

Two monks were washing their bowls by a river, when they spotted a scorpion
about to drown. Without hesitation, one scooped it up with his hand and
laid it on the land, getting stung while doing so. When he resumed washing
his bowl, the scorpion fell in again. The same monk again saved the scorpion,
and was again stung. The other monk asked in great surprise,
"Why continue saving it when its nature is to sting?" The first monk replied,
"Because it's my nature to save." Whenever this story is told,
listeners are usually either touched by the first monk's relentless and
unconditional compassion, or baffled by his "unrepentant stupidity".
How does it affect you?

Is the first monk with great compassion but lacking in wisdom?
Well, to prevent being bitten, he could have used his bowl to scoop
the scorpion? And he could have placed the scorpion further away
from the river? That would be utilising appropriate skilful means to
"better save" the scorpion. When one means is proven faulty,
another means should be used. Is the second monk with some wisdom but
lacking in compassion? Perhaps he was considering his safety too selfishly
to think of risking a small selfless act? Thus should compassion and
wisdom go hand in hand on the Bodhisattva path of helping other beings.
True wisdom is knowing how to be compassionate effectively,
and true compassion is to be wise effectively.

Though a suddenly 'provoked' scorpion might sting, it does not always
sting, doing so only when it thinks it is being harmed instead of helped.
Thus, its nature to sting is actually impermanent, as the scorpion is
"empty" of any fixed traits. The scorpion also refers to the unthankful
people we help. Mindful that no one is permanently of the nature to 'sting',
why not carry on helping? It is undying compassion that cannot bear to
see others in pain, that never gives up lending a hand, that eventually
touches and transforms the ungrateful. Even if it fails to, the joy
from being kind is a reward! When we practise compassion despite it often
being a thankless "job", without expecting any gratitude, while even
open to the possibility of being harmed, then surely, this is true compassion
in action. But remember to apply true wisdom too! - Shen Shi'an

another fatal accident, another body dismantle case..
you must be thinking, the law is so strict in s'pore,
why are there still murdering cases? why are they doing all these?
isn't it because they're ignorant? ignorant is not a bliss..
ignorant is what make us suffer, unhappy..

wx asked me whether i wana work as a driver for him.. haha..
he has some lobang recently, and is urgently in need of drivers..
and the thing is he does not have a driving license, no vehicle
and no driver, how is he going to make the extra money immediately..
i feel that he's too rush this time as i told him that he need
to start from small and slowly progress.. and the fact that he KNOW
i had a full time job, he still have the cheek to ask me quit
my current job! wth.. he's so desperate in making money that he also
asked if my bro have full time job.. i say yes and he still ask
whether he wana work for him temp for 2 weeks? hello? my bro
has a full time job too, how to work for him 2 weeks?
i'd already done my best in lending him bro's van..

is making money so impt that he no longer care for his friend's
future? i think i'll definitely have a brighter future if i
stay to my current job.. well, oftenly, he take his friend for granted
and never thought of the thing he did might hurt his friend..
well, hope he can make out something this time..

Farms and Barns

have you ever thought of living in farms or barns?
its a totally different kind of feeling and it would be great if the
farms and barns are equipped with modern technology like broadband
or even wireless access.. i'd always thought of living in the countryside
but i can't seem to detach myself from the internet world..
well, it seem that we're too dependent on technology..
