kenji called.. supposed to meet 11:30pm at 40 tiangs.. road closure..
destination changed to tuas.. however it rain.. in the end back to
20 tiangs.. quite a number of cars tonite.. VS, Team Elemental and SMC
already reached when we arrived..

first to go is the 2 eg9.. johnson head slightly more then a car length..
what really an eye opener is BMW 335 series vs BMW coupe.. coupe genna
teared like tissue paper..

next is FD Turbo vs CS5.. CS5 was leading from the start.. however,
FD overtake on the 3rd gear.. though single cam, vtec turbo is not
something to be taken lightly.. ^^

lastly, i got to play with CS5.. i guess it will be on par.. anyway,
the result is a car length ahead cos it take off before me.. wait till
i done with my tuning.. still quite a number of stuff to work on..

drink driving..

i read another news on this again and can't help but feel that man
never learn his lessons.. often we encountered news about drink driving
resulted in road accidents.. when one drink and drive, it immediately
reflect that person characteristic.. inconsiderate.. if a person is
inconsiderate, he'll not be good in all other characteristics.. for
he only think of himself..

"Lee was convicted of drink-driving, fined $3,000 and banned from
driving for two years last month." "The wife of the deceased alleged
that Lee attended her husband's wake but did not acknowledge or
apologise to her."

the wife has a 5 years old son.. one can imagin how difficult it is
for her to bring up her son by herself..

i have friends who said "I always drink and drive one la.." after i
rebuked them on their drink driving habit.. they're already a bunch
of inconsiderate drivers.. talking sense to them is no use till they
knock down someone then will they wake up and learn the lesson..
no, some people are juz so inconsiderate that knocking down others
doesn't matter much to them.. wait till another inconsiderate fellow
knock down their love ones..

its better to take a cab if you want to drink.. you may feel sober after
a round of two.. but you yourself are not aware that your reaction
had already been affected..

smoking..

smoking seems to be the partner for drinking.. in the past, most of
the smokers are man, now female smokers are juz as much as the male..
the anti-smoking campaign doesn't seem to work.. actually, its really
very ironic to me.. all girls like to look young and pretty.. but
smoking make one age 3x faster, make one have yellow fingers and teeth,
have bad breath etc.. not mentioning burning a hole in your pocket and
health away.. and they have to quit during pregnancy.. if not the baby
will have a high chance of being premature or deformed..

inconsiderate.. smokers are juz as inconsiderate if not more.. passive
smoking suffered higher risk in getting diseases then first hand
somker.. worse, most of the time they puff around their loves one..
no offence to smokers as i'd lots of friends who smoke.. juz be more
considerate when you light a cig next time.. though you can't see
how the smoke damage the health of your friends or loves one doesn't
mean it didn't..

天生我孩必有用



孩子在愚人节这天来到了人世间，让人没想到的是，他患有 21 对染色体综合症，
永远只有三四岁孩子的智力，也就是说，不管他年龄有多大，他永远是一个愚人。

愚人的父母并没有嫌弃自己的孩子，他们无微不至地关爱着孩子，努力教孩子从
一数到五，可不争气的孩子永远不明白一到五的顺序。

愚人 16 岁时，愚人的妈妈被查出患上了乳腺癌。愚人的妈妈从医院出来，
悲伤地坐在回家的公共汽车上，眼泪不住地往下流，她不是为自己的病情伤心，
她担心的是自己死后，自己的愚子该怎么办？自己健在时他还经常被人欺负，
如果自己死了，谁又会来关心照顾他呢？汽车在站台停了下来，一个衣着破烂、
浑身脏兮兮的孩子在乞讨，有的人丢给他一枚硬币，有的人大声呵斥他滚开。
愚人的妈妈见此情景心如刀绞 — 自己死后，自己的愚子很可能连这乞讨的
孩子都不如，因为他连什么是乞讨也不懂呀！

愚人的妈妈在汽车上再也坐不住了，她提前下了车，到一家土产商店买了两瓶
敌敌畏，她决定要和自己的愚子一起离开这个世界。

愚人的妈妈回到家打开门，愚人快乐地尖叫着从屋子里冲出来迎接妈妈，
并在地上摸索半天，从几双拖鞋中找到妈妈那双拖鞋，送到站在门口发愣的
妈妈脚下，示意妈妈赶紧换鞋。妈妈再也控制不住自己的感情，一把抱住愚子
哭了起来。愚子一边挣脱妈妈，一边着急地举起手里自己拼装的机器人给妈妈看，
并得意地说，这是自己装的。愚子的表现让妈妈猛然发现儿子并不愚 — 他是有
感情的，也是有一定思想的，他能拼装出机器人，也一定会干其它事情，
天生我这个儿子一定是有用处的。她放弃了死的念头，决定和孩子一起好好
生活下去。她又开始教孩子数数，教孩子系鞋带......

一个偶然的机会，愚人的妈妈发现他对音乐有着特殊的敏感性。他一听到音乐，
有时会两三个小时一动不动静静地听着，有时会随着音乐手舞足蹈，俨然像
一个指挥家。看着愚人的这些表现，愚人的妈妈兴奋极了，她终于找到了适合
愚子的生活方式和生存方式，她们夫妇决定送愚子上智育培训学习班，
请一些指挥家来教儿子学习指挥......

为了省下钱让愚子学指挥，愚人的妈妈不但主动减少了化疗次数，而且还拖着
病体外出打工。经过不懈的努力，愚人的指挥终于达到了出神入化的地步。
他应邀参加了中国残联举办的春节晚会，将自己的指挥天赋发挥得淋漓尽致。
演出结束，残联主席邓朴方拥抱着愚人，深情地说：“ 一切生命都是伟大的！”

愚人在用自己的表现赢得世界对他的尊重与承认的同时，他的妈妈却由于化疗
不彻底，走到自己生命的尽头。然而，这时的妈妈走得却是非常安详，因为她
已经为自己最牵挂的愚子找到了一条生存之路。

这是一个真实的故事，文中的愚人就是现在蜚声海内外的著名智障指挥家舟舟。
上面这段长长的文字就是舟舟来我的家乡演出时，主持人对舟舟的介绍。

在大家的感动之中演出开始了，看着舟舟充满激情的指挥，我身边一位女士
啜泣起来。原来，来观看演出前她的儿子由于染上网瘾，数学只考了 60 分，
她感到自己的儿子已无可救药，便产生了放任自流的思想，但在听了舟舟的
故事和观看了舟舟的演出后，她被触动了，天生孩子必有用，她开始深深地
反省自己，流下了感动和悔恨的眼泪。

COE for Cat A dropped to all time low of only $2.. i wonder how those people
who buy their car last month feel.. during such a bad time, everything is
dropping in price.. oil, gold, STI, coe and even our pay is shrinking..

some of my friends are going around borrowing money.. this make me ponder
that there's still a number of people who don't save for rainy days..
even if they do, they save barely enough.. and its their spending habits
that prevent them from having a decent saving.. one less dollar spent is
a dollar saved.. of course, discipline play a part..

sexy shots and provocative profile pictures, particularly those of young
women, often tend towards the risqué are one of the hottest topic nowaday..
especially after another nurse went posting her nude pics in friendster
and confessed in a public forum of having sex in the hospital..
so this is the latest trend now.. sigh..

yesterday MM stressed on the important of chinese language again.. but i
doubt anyone will really pay attention to it.. china is the future market
and its ironical that singaporean, consisting a large percentage of chinese
are losing their root.. more and more singaporeans could not read or write
proper chinese.. haha.. its really a disgrace.. you rarely heard in fact i
never heard before that a malay or indian can't speak their mother tongue..
MOE should not have shown the green light to these "angmo" chinese.. fyi,
Chinese as the 2nd language is no longer a compulsory subject to pass in
order to get promoted to the next level of study.. in the past, if you
failed chinese, you would have to repeat.. the non-chinese are trying to
learn chinese while the chinese is throwing away their own language..

marina barrage.. at times i do really takes my hat off for MM Lee.. back
in the 60s, he already had this vision of having a reservoir in the city..
during that time the Singapore River was filled with tonnes of wastes
and stink like hell.. it took 10 years to clean the Singapore River..
the ministers told him that its impossible that the area will become a
source for water consumption.. however MM Lee said that its possible as
technology progress into the future.. thumb up for MM Lee.. if not for his
farsightedness, Singapore will not have become what it is today..

this is one of the song i listen to in my younger days.. Tears In Heaven
by Eric Clapton.. this song was written by him after his child fell to
his death.. if i'm not wrong, it was during the early 90s.. somewhere in
91 or 92.. it is said that Eric only performed this song once in public..

i start listening to pop songs at an age of 8 or 9.. mainly because
my aunt used to buy lots of cassette tapes.. a few hundreds of them..
but most of them are chinese songs.. i still remember the group 七匹狼、
红孩儿、星星月亮太阳、小虎队、谭咏麟、许冠杰、张信哲、黎明、那英、
张学友、刘德华、潘美辰、王杰、伍思凯、周慧敏、赵传、叶倩文、林忆莲
etc in the late 80s to 郭富城、林志颖、优客李林、王菲、张宇、齐秦、
张智霖、孙耀威 in the early 90s.. woa..

my first touch to english songs is with "Perfect Ten 98.7FM".. at the
age of 11.. i listen to songs by Tiffany, MLTR, Roxette, Mr big, Air
Supply, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Celine Dion, Duran Duran , Boy II Men,
Gregorian, Indecent Obsession, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Jon Secada,
Mariah Carey, Patty Smyth, Pet Shop Boy, Richard Marx, Rick Price,
Rod Stewart, Timmy Thomas, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, White Lion,
Eric Clapton, Escape Club, Cranberries, Tommy Page, Vanessa Williams,
Def Leppard, Wet Wet Wet, Madonna.. however, my english song era ended
in 1996.. i stopped listening to english song as i feel that english
songs had changed.. there're some artists that i still listen till the
late 90s like Britney Spears, M2M, SClub7, Robbie William..

time flies.. sometimes its very nostalgic when i listen to these old
songs again.. new songs are nice, but old songs are the one that stay
deep in the heart..

不過這個夢我挺難過的。我看見奶奶的身子又不好了，手腫了起來。:(
我也不知道是什麽原因。雖然我是佛教徒但我還是相信奶奶已經被
主耶穌帶上天堂了。

i read the stomp news and saw the headlines "Another S'pore girl puts nude
pics online...taken in HDB staircase".. why is such thing getting more
and more common? from the nyp scandal, malay girl footage, friendster
post out of nude pics.. i personally saw several(not a few) singapor-lians
be it in friendster or wlny putting up very erotical profile.. some post
to chat with guys with webcams.. some even openly placed her fees on her
profile..

i wonder why Singaporean girls are becoming like this.. we're an educated
society with good financial status.. are they really deprived of sex cos of
the too "unproductive" males? its reported in the news that there is an
increasing number of Singaporean man suffering from erectile dysfunction..
and its one of the reason Singaporeans are having less sex then the world
average.. but i thought that only affected the older man.. personally,
i think stress is the main killer..

S'pore education is really cmi.. school no longer focus on moral education..
parents themselves are as bad and do not know how to teach and discipline
their children.. thus the increase in number of immoral young Singaporeans..
if S'pore want to be a top country, the govt should really revise its
education plan..

ok some teachings i gonna have here, or preaching if you prefer the word..
anyway this is my blog.. ^^ hope it could give you some understanding
to buddhism.. what is buddhism?

strictly speaking, if we follow the definition from dictionaries.. buddhism is
not really a religion.. it is a teaching.. buddhism started off as a teaching
and later being termed as a religion.. well, alot of religions also claimed that
they're not a religion.. christian claimed its a "relationship with God".. isn't
"relationship with God" yet another term..

human had actually created a term "religion" for general use and for simple
understanding, pls juz acknowledge this word.. maybe we'll start with the
definition of religion..

Religion

oxford dictionary
1 the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially
a personal God or gods. 2 a particular system of faith and worship.

msn dictonary
belief in a divine or superhuman power or powers to be obeyed and
worshiped as the creator(s) and ruler(s) of the universe

wordweb dictonary
people's beliefs and opinions concerning the existence, nature, and worship
of a deity or deities, and divine involvement in the universe and human life

why i say buddhism is not a religion because it did not meet any of the
above definitions given by the 3 dictionaries..

1. Buddha is not a God..
2. there is no creator or ruler in buddhism..
3. there is no worshipping in buddhism..

giving the facts.. so why buddhism became a religion? its the same reason..
people get confused and misunderstood buddhism.. thus it turned from being
an ancient teaching in china to today a religion.. i bet you're also not
aware that till the early Qing dynasty, buddhism is still a form of education
in china..

in the past, many people went to temple to attend lessons like students
going to school instead of merely praying or worshiping which people do now..
so where come all the praying and worshiping.. thanks to the human greed that
buddhism was been misunderstood by so many people..

nonetheless, some larger temple like 光明山 do still provide lessons for
children on weekend.. and fyi too, there are diploma and degree courses
on buddhism.. you can't find degree course in other religion.. as i mentioned
earlier, in actual fact buddhism is a teaching..

now that we're clear about what a religion is, we go to:
"what is the purpose of a religion?"

the purpose of a religion is to help a human being train his mind so that
he develops understanding and acts in a morally responsible way.. he does
good because he "know" that is the right thing to do, not because he wants
to avoid punishment or receive rewards.. so religion is also a kind of
teaching but teaching is not equal to religion.. but for general understanding,
people still term buddhism as a religion..

people sometimes do good deeds or provide some service to others in
expectation of a big reward.. if this is the motivation, they will not
develop sympanthy, understanding according to the true meaning of these
words.. they become selfish avoiding evil deeds to escape punishment or
do good to get rewards.. this is selfishness..

the Buddha did not advocate this.. if heaven and hell were both closed
down, how many people would remain religious? buddhism however encourages
moral behaviour without reference to heaven or hell.. this is the uniqueness
of Buddha's teaching..

buddhism is a path of practice and spiritual development leading to insight
into the true nature of life.. the main purpose of buddhism is not to ensure
escape from punshiment or gain a reward but to help one become perfect
and to end physical and mental suffering and be free from unsatisfactoriness..

buddhism focus on changing one's mindset.. a person's action is based on his
thinking.. when a person's thoughts run wild, his actions will not be upright..
the best way to change a man action is to change his mindset.. changing a
person is not easy.. what's the best way? thru' education.. dhamma education
consist of all one need in his life.. thru' dhamma education, one is then
able to know himself, change himself, know the world, change the world..

and one most common misunderstanding, burning incense stick is NOT
worshiping the buddha.. burning incense actually is to burn for ourself
not for the buddha.. its not compulsory and beside showing our gratitude to
the buddha and supporting the triple gem(Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha),
more important is it set as a reminder to us that we should burn away our
greed, hatred, lack of wisdom that lead us to death and to get peace..

of course, burning incense bring fragrant to the atmosphere and make a
person feel relaxed.. i'm not refering to those smoky temples that burnt
tonnes of incense.. buddhism had been deeply misunderstood by many
peoples.. and due to greed, people had been using religion to make money..
this is very sad.. very few people know the purpose of burning incense..

this go the same for burning oil lamp.. its not providing light to the Buddha..
haha.. Buddha no need such dim light.. its burned to set as a reminder that
we should sacrify ourself to help others..(burn oneself to provide light..)
you can also see water not tea on the altar as water mean we should keep our
mind pure from impurities.. so everything buddhist place in front of the Buddha
have its meaning and all of them are but reminders to us.. even the buddha
statue itself is a reminder..

buddhists are not crazy enough to knee down and worship a statue blindly..
kneeling in front of the buddha is actually a kind of training and practice to
lesser our ego and self-important and to remind ourself that we should practice
like the Buddha..

ok, i think it going too long here.. what i wanna say is buddhism is very
very much different from what one perceive.. if you really want to know what
buddhism is, its better to read up some books on buddhism, do some googling
or visit some monks in genuine buddhist temple..

lastly, religion is juz a term.. in my opinion, a more approriate definition should be
a particular system of faith, truth or beliefs(in a God if any) that concern human life
and afterlife(if any).. this way, buddhism will fit perfectly into the term..

swei came back last week to have his wedding dinner.. but i can't attend
his wedding.. actually i can't attend two of my good friends wedding..
feel sorry toward them.. time flies.. x'mas is around the corner again..
and i'm geting older again.. haha..

as i get older, the more i feel that one should learn to live happily..
but living in singapore, in such a competitive country, such a realistic
world where no money no talk.. one really need 'skills' to live happily..
we need to change our mindset.. cos money is not equal to happiness..

well, my own way of learning to live happier is thru' buddhism.. before
you trying to click the 'X' on the top right corner, i'm not going to do
any preaching about religion.. haha.. anyway, buddhism is not a religion..
its juz a teaching ok teaching.. haha.. i juz saying out my way ok.. ^^

oh.. to the girl in wlny nick 'bear' or 'pooh', pls do not spam my blog cbox!
